The ECB have today announced the venues that will make up cricket in the UK, for the next few years, and included in that announcement is the news of all the venues for the 2013 and 2015 Ashes series. The most notable absence is Headingley, who miss out on both years, whilst Edgbaston will miss out on the 2013 series.
England were able to wrap up a 3-0 series win over India, by virtue of more game time being reduced and a stunning performance from Yorkshire wicket-keeper batsman Johnny Bairstow, who took the man of the match award, with a blistering 41 from 21 balls, to guide England over the winning line.
The ECB has today confirmed the tour dates for England's tour of the middle east, and the test and one day series with Pakistan. The England cricket team will arrive in Dubai on January 3rd, where they will play warm up games, three tests, four one day matches, and three Twenty20 internationals.
England and India are ready to square up again, this time in the 50 over format of the game, and with the visitors struggling with injuries and a severe lack of form, the home side will be looking to continue their winning streak over them. Captain in this form of the game is Alastair Cook, who is wanting his side to keep up the pressure on the Indian's and not let them get a foothold back into the tour.
England Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad was 'delighted' to see his side chase down India's 165 all out in their innings, and although being nervous about it going to the final over, he singled out the performance of Jade Dernbach as key to England winning the game by six wickets.
Over the next few weeks, the England cricket team, will be looking to lay the foundations for a strong run in the one day arena. It follows their rise to number one in the test rankings, now the 50 over format is the next challenge for this group of players. With five one day matches, and a T20 next up against India, England will be hoping to start the seeds for a World Cup Challenge in 2015.
It may have rained for the afternoon session on Day 3 of the final test match between England and India, but after the visitors closed on 103-5, after Andrew Strauss had declared on 591-6, it would appear only a miracle will now stop England gaining 15 more wickets, and wrapping up a 4-0 series whitewash.
The England Cricket Team will be looking to celebrate their new found number 1 test ranking status, by finishing the series with India, and wrapping up a famous 4-0 win, over the side they have de-throned at the top of the list. Whilst there is concerns over the fitness of James Anderson, England have enough in reserve to really rank up the pressure, even with the series won.
Andrew Flintoff will be involved with a superb event in October 2011, that will see some legends of the game appear in 'Titans of Cricket', where four teams (India, England, Pakistan and Australia) appear in a two hour feast of entertainment. It is being held over three venues in the UK, with Manchester, Birmingham and the O2 arena in London all hosting an event.
A clip that will live long into the memory for English cricket fans, as then Australian captain Ricky Ponting gets run out by substitute fielder, Gary Pratt. It was also Ponting's reaction when seeing his wicket had been taken by someone who really shouldn't have been on the field at all.
